Safety devices EN12978 - Type “E” infrared barriers
Infrared barriers for outdoor use, maximum safety coverage in accordance with EN 12978, applicable to motorised gates and automatic doors
NOLOGO barriers can be installed outdoors near the motorised door. Infrared technology allows total coverage of the area where the door moves. These devices are impact and weather resistant and allow total coverage in accordance with EN 12978. Installation is simple and allows the barriers to be adapted to any condition (thanks to quick-fixing clips). The maximum coverage is 2.5 m (height) and 18 m (length).
NOLOGO barriers set new standards for the future. Thanks to cutting-edge electronics and intelligent firmware, NOLOGO safety devices are compatible with all automation control units with safety inputs equipped with a ‘test terminal’, in compliance with EN 12978 and EN 13849 standards. The photoelectric barriers can be applied to almost all existing systems. For example, for sectional doors, ‘blanking’ technology is used, which allows the protection area to be adapted to the vertical movement of the door.
Principles and scopes of application
- The EN 12978 standard (see details) defines the requirements and test methods for protective devices used only with automated doors. These devices, such as infrared barriers, are designed to ensure safety in the vicinity of doors, preventing risks of crushing, shearing or impact.
- Safety devices can be applied to sliding gates, swing gates and other types of motorised doors, such as garage doors, industrial doors and barriers.
- The scope of application also includes automatic pedestrian doors, normally installed in shops, offices, warehouses and other commercial or public environments such as healthcare facilities.
- Protective devices are also used to manage the safety of people in car parks, restricted areas and access control gates.
